Jacob!

So today was my last day working at Tanoan as a lifeguard, and I ran into one of my very first chitlin that I taught last year. His name is Jacob, and when we started lessons he wouldn't put his face under the water, he wouldn't even let me let go of him for a second. With lots of lessons and tons of negotiating with a very intelligent 6 year old, he was swimming laps by himself he could side breath and do freestyle and backstroke, but the one thing I couldn't get him to do was go off the diving board by himself because of how deep the water was. Well this summer we didn't do lessons, but he was at the pool quite a bit always eagar to show me his new tricks. He is now going off not only the one-meter board, but the three-meter board as well. What a difference a year makes. He is swimming amazingly well by himself and he is now fearless! It's incredible. Right before he left the pool he came up to me and told me "miss Trachelle thank you for everything you taught me, I'm not scared any more!" it was a great feeling and im so excited for him. My scared little Jake is swimming and having fun! it was incredible! It made my day! :) Im not taking credit for everything he has done so much by himself! i am so proud of him!

The Last days of my high school career

So for the last days of High School I convinced almost all the girls (excluding Taylor) and we went to Las Lunas for a mulit stake dance! (lame in other places, surprisngly acceptable for New Mexicans). We had a blast singing songs in the car and driving my dads new truck! it was a great way to spend one of my last weekends as a highschool student!
